    We are excited to be partnering with the Canadian Bar Association’s Research Section for our next Lunch & Learn presentation!  Sarah Sutherland, Manager of Content and Partnerships at CanLII, will be discussing new developments at CanLII.

    Date & Time: Wednesday, April 19 at 12 pm

    Location: Canadian Bar Association Office, Suite 710, 777 8 Avenue SW

    Cost: Free if you bring your own lunch; $15 if you’d like to partake in the CBA’s lunch service (please bring a cheque made out to “Canadian Bar Association, Alberta Branch)

    In the next week or so, you will be noticing some exciting changes to the CLLG website, as the Website Committee completes the transition to a new platform, effective April 1.

    For active CLLG members: you don’t need to do anything but eagerly await the new look and feel of the website, email newsletters and blog post updates.

    For non-members who subscribe to the blog by e-mail: In order to continue receiving updates you will be able to do so via RSS (after April 1) or you can join CLLG and receive updates right to your inbox.

    We don’t anticipate any disruption during the transition, so stay tuned!

    The American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) has just released the white paper Defining ROI: Law Library Best Practices.  This paper builds on the analysis and insight from their 2015 The Economic Value of Law Libraries report by providing practical strategies and solutions to help you measure and demonstrate value and ROI in your library.  Contributors include thought leaders from across the AALL spectrum who share their own experiences and advice.

    Dear Friends and Colleagues:

    The Foreign, Comparative and International Law Special Interest Section (FCIL-SIS) of the American Association of Law Libraries is now accepting applications for the 2017 FCIL Schaffer Grant for Foreign Law Librarians. The Grant subsidizes a foreign law librarian to attend the Annual Meeting of the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL), the world’s largest law librarian professional organization.

    The FCIL Schaffer Grant for the AALL Annual Meeting (http://www.aallnet.org/conference) in Austin, Texas (July 15-18, 2017) provides a waiver of the AALL Annual Meeting full registration fee and a grant of a minimum $2,000 to assist with accommodations and travel costs.

    Applicants must be law librarians or other professionals working in the legal information field, currently employed in countries other than the United States, and with significant responsibility for the organization, preservation, or provision of legal information. The application deadline is December 16, 2016. The Grant Committee will not consider late or incomplete applications. Please note: Grant winners must pay all expenses in advance. Grant awards will only be disbursed at the AALL Annual Meeting.
