Charitable Initiatives

The CLLG currently supports two charitable initiatives: Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope and Betty's Run for ALS.

Our involvement with Ovarian Cancer Canada's Walk of Hope began in 2009 to support two CLLG members fighting this cancer: Susan Ross and Marlene MacDougall. We were saddened by the passing of Susan in 2011 and Marlene in 2013 but continue this fund-raising initiative in their memory.  Since 2009, CLLG has raised over $77,000 (including corporate matching).

The CLLG's participation in Betty's Run for ALS began in 2011 to support our former Chair, Shelagh Mikulak, in her fight with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) – also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.  To date, over $100,000 has been raised in Shelagh’s name for the ALS Society of Alberta including the 2011 and 2012 CLLG initiatives where over $40,000 was raised in each year.
